Lost or stolen passport
Has your Australian passport been lost or stolen? If so:
- Report the loss or theft by calling the Australian Passport Information Service on 131 232 from within Australia
- Report, alternatively, to the Australian High Commission in Port of Spain during local business hours
Applying for a new passport
Need to apply for or renew your Australian passport? If so:
- Visit the Australian Passports Office website and follow the prompts to ‘Apply or renew’, and
- If eligible to apply via mail, read further below, or
- If you need to lodge in person, contact the Australian High Commission in Port of Spain to make an appointment for a passport interview.
Track the status of your passport application
- After your application has been lodged, the status tracker lets you check the progress of your passport application online, including an estimated date for when your passport will be ready to collect or post.
- You can use the status tracker once you've lodged your passport application. You will need your application number (e.g. AB123456A). If you don't have your application number, see where do I find my application number?
Eligibility to apply via mail - adults

Child passport renewal applications can be mailed-in if the child is:

If you meet the above criteria, you can complete a passport renewal application (PC8) online. See our Guide below.
For first time child applications under 16 years old, applications must be lodged in person by one person with parental responsibility (the child does not need to attend the interview).
