Biography

Ms Sonya Koppe assumed her role as Australia’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago on 16 March 2023 and will serve in the Caribbean until 2026.  She will be accredited to Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

She is a career officer with Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and has previously served overseas in Pretoria, Colombo, The Hague and Geneva.

Ms Koppe holds a Master of Arts (Strategic Studies) from Deakin University, a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia.
